KoenigseggThe company was founded in 1994 in Sweden by Christian von Koenigsegg, with the intent to produce a world-class supercar. Many years of development and prototypes led to the company's first street-legal production car delivered in 2002.  Koenigsegg Automotive AB is a non-listed free traded Swedish public company. The company has approximately 90 shareholders. As the company are freely tradable shareholders the amount may vary. Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO and a major shareholder.

In 2006, the Koenigsegg CCX production, which uses an engine created specifically for this vehicle. The CCX is street-legal in most countries, including the United States. Apart from developing the production and sale of Koenigsegg line of super cars Koenigsegg is also involved in "green technology" development programs, including CCXR ("Flower Power") Flex-fuel supercar. Koenigsegg is also active in the development of programs in terms of plug-in electric systems and next generation combustion engine technology.

In March 2009 Koenigsegg CCXR was selected by Forbes as one of the ten most beautiful cars in history. In December 2010 Koenigsegg Acting won the prestigious BBC Top Gear Hypercar of the Year Award.
